Participants will evaluate tax incentives, tax holidays, and the challenges of establishing efficient tax systems in developing countries. The course emphasizes practical approaches to improving tax systems, strengthening domestic resource mobilization through effective tax policies, and leveraging Value Added Tax (VAT) to enhance revenue potential in least developed countries (LDCs).

This course examines the meaning, significance, and development process of public policy, with a focus on strategies to reduce rural poverty in developing nations. Students will analyze challenges to evidence-based policymaking, explore the role of science, technology, and gender analysis in shaping effective policies, and apply insights into the causes of rural poverty to inform public policy solutions.
